26 Church St Bundanoon

We purchased this Californian Bungalow home, built in 1934 for Mrs Sanders, Bundanoon’s Real Estate agent, in 2006. Having been very interested in landscape design and passionate native planting gardeners in Sydney, we found it exciting to learn about exotic, cool climate plants. We wanted to reflect in this 1/2 acre garden, the old home and the close-by Morton National Park.

The front garden of the property was well laid out with the original sandstone fence, standard roses and old camelia trees, but needed a lot of work and planting. The back, sloping block was a wilderness of overgrown vines, the worst of weeds that had for decades covered many fallen trees.

Now, lovely rural and bush views are revealed, mature, old trees have been complemented with many garden beds, terracing and pathways. An emerging native garden and 20 relocated tree ferns form our woodland area. It is now an exciting, varied, peaceful, country garden to meander through, to find a quiet place to sit and contemplate the vistas.
